Positive Youth Development (PYD) Positive Youth Development is a uniquely Westport partnership whose mission is to promote the positive development of children and youth in their families, in their schools, among their peers, and in their communities.
It consists of 5 collaborators:

The United Way of Coastal Fairfield County

The Westport Department of Human Services

The Westport Schools

Positive Directions

The Westport PTA Council including all PTA’s

Portable Storage

PARENT RESOURCE COMMITTEE 2010-11

A critical component of the PYD Initiative is the Parent Resource Committee.  Two representatives from each of the eight Westport schools is nominated by their PTA to serve as the “eyes and ears” of the issues facing parents today.  Each month, the group meets, along with the Steering Committee of the 5 collaborators, to identify these trends and brainstorm possible new programming.  Parents are encouraged to contact their reps with parenting issues of concern to them:
